Terms of service

  • Your dog’s safety is our number one priority at Harper House Grooming. Because grooming involves being in your dog’s personal space, your dog may become anxious or even reactive during their service. I will try my absolute best to provide a safe and low stress experience. HOWEVER, If I determine that continuing your dog’s service may cause a threat to your dog or myself, I will immediately discontinue the service and notify you.

By booking a service with Harper House Grooming, you agree to the following:

I understand and agree that if Harper House Grooming deems it unsafe or unhealthy to continue the service for the dog or the groomer, the groomer will end the service and I will be responsible for any services rendered.

In the rare case of accident or injury, I will not hold Harper House Grooming responsible for accident or injury to my pet. Harper House Grooming will not be liable for any veterinary treatment or costs incurred as a result of accident or injury while your dog is on the premises.

  • If your dog is matted or severely tangled to the point of causing pain or discomfort during the dematting process, Harper House Grooming may opt to shave your dog to “reset” their coat. Please be advised that heavily matted dogs may have trapped bacteria, mold, or fungi next to the skin. When the thick matting is removed, it will expose the skin condition below which may include redness, sores, infection, etc. Your dog may then begin scratching or licking and therefore causing a worsening of the skin condition that was preexisting. I highly encourage you to seek veterinary treatment as soon as possible.

IF your dog can tolerate dematting, there will be a greater risk of injury, stress and trauma. All precautions will be taken to ensure it is as pleasant as possible, however, problems occasionally arise during or after grooming (such as nicks, clipper irritation and mental or physical stress).

By booking a service with Harper House Grooming, you understand that matted dog have a greater risk of injury during grooming and will not hold Harper House Grooming responsible for accident or injury to your dog.

  • 1. CURRENT VACCINATIONS/ VETERINARIAN INFORMATION: By booking a service with Harper House Grooming, owners verify their pets are current on Rabies vaccinations. Proof of vaccinations and/or veterinarian information shall be provided to Harper House Grooming upon request.

    2. FLEAS: Harper House Grooming strives to be a flea-free environment. Harper House Grooming reserves the right to refuse a grooming service until dog is flea-free. If your dog is found to have fleas during the service, we will automatically bathe them with a flea & tick shampoo. There will be an additional $10-$20 charge (depending on the dog's size and the severity of the infestation) for this service to cover the cost of the shampoo, time, and cleaning necessary to ensure that no fleas are active in my home. The flea bath will kill fleas on your dog, but will not protect them going forward when coming in contact with living fleas. We recommend that you contact your veterinarian for advice on the best treatment for your dog.

    3. HEALTH OR MEDICAL PROBLEMS & SENIOR PETS: If your pet has any medical problems (seizures, arthritis, large hernias, collapsing trachea, etc. ) please make me aware of them beforehand so I can take the necessary steps to ensure your pet's comfort. Grooming can sometimes be stressful, especially for a senior pet or pet with health problems. Receiving a service can expose hidden medical problems or aggravate a current one during or after the groom.

By booking with Harper House Grooming, you indicate that you understand and agree to our terms of service, dog safety policy and matted dog policy. You release and hold harmless Harper House Grooming and its owner from any and all liabilities, expenses, damages, and costs (including attorney fees) resulting from any services provided or injury/death to your dog(s) while in our care or afterward.

  • Please drop your dog off promptly, up to 30 minutes early starting at 8AM. I absolutely cannot take your dog if you arrive more than 20 minutes late. Tardiness for one dog translates to running behind the entire day. I do understand circumstances arise at times and I will be as accommodating as I can. My schedule has limited space and depends on prompt arrival. Habitually late clients will be terminated.

Late drop-offs are not permitted and the service is considered forfeited after 20 minutes past your dog’s appointment time.

Clients who have not picked up their pets two hours after the conclusion of a service will be subject to a daycare fee of $10/hour unless prior arrangements have been made.

  • Cancellations must be made no later than 24 hours before your appointment.

Excluding extenuating circumstances, last minute cancellations or no shows will result in a booking fee of 50% of the service price moving forward.

After two missed appointments, clients will be required to pre-pay for the full service price at the time of booking.

I understand that life is busy and appointments need to be cancelled or changed sometimes – I just ask to cancel at least 24 hours in advance to allow for another client to fill your spot 
